Chewy Oat Biscuits

Ingredients

75g (2¾ oz) plain flour
½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
75g (2¾ oz) brown sugar
75g (2¾ oz) porridge oats
75g (2¾ oz) polyunsaturated margarine
1-tablespoon golden syrup
Low fat cooking spray

Method

Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 3/170 C/325 F. In a bowl sift together the flour and bicarbonate of soda then add the sugar and oats.

Melt together the margarine and syrup in saucepan over a low heat and pour in the dry mixture

Mix together and then place dessertspoonfuls of the mixture well apart on a baking sheet sprayed with the low fat cooking spray.

Leave plenty of space between each biscuit to allow them to spread and then flatten each slightly with your fingertips so that you have discs about 2.5cm (1-inch) in diameter.

Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown
