A few examples of unexpected outcomes from the Bite Size Grant scheme

  • “We have, as a direct result, introduced healthy eating and physical activity as a core part of our curriculum, as the projects highlighted a real need”  WILD – allotment, cooking and banquet grants
  • “The communal kitchen and equipment is being used regularly by service users. More service users are buying healthier products, fresh rather than convenience”  Stonham Housing Association – cooking equipment grant
  • “Parents have also become more aware of what children eat at home and children are asking for healthier foods! Parents/carers have asked for a healthy snack provision rota to be put in place; this starts after Easter. Thank you.”  Stepping Stones Pre-school –cooking equipment grant

Two projects were funded with BIG BITE funding in April this year. The first is an allotment and cooking project in Calstock, run by Cornwall Partnership Trust's Early Intervention Team. The second is a cooking and healthy cafe project run at Zebs cafe in Truro, which is a youth project managed by Young People Cornwall. We will be supporting both projects along the way and wish them lots of success.

There is a further opportunity to apply for BIG BITE funding in October. We advise that you speak to our team before putting an application in so that you stand a better chance of being funded.
