Health Champion (Volunteer)
Opportunities are available for those who wish to volunteer for Eatsome. Volunteers are known as Health Champions. If you have an interest in food and cooking, this may be a chance for you to work with groups of people and support them in practical sessions.
Health Champion Success Story
Carolyn found out about volunteering after attending a session run by Eatsome, she got together with some other people on her Estate and wanted to run cooking sessions for the young people in the Parc an Tansy Community Office.
Carolyn signed up as an Eatsome Health Champion in August 2007, she attended the two day Get Cooking Course to increase her knowledge and confidence in running sessions and assisted with the running the first four sessions run by Eatsome at the Community Office. Following the success of these first sessions run on the estate, Carolyn applied for a BIte Size Grant on behalf of the group with a view to running additional sessions with more young people. The application for a Grant was successful and a further ten weeks of cooking sessions are planned in to start soon which will be lead by Carolyn with support from Eatsome and other Health Champions. Carolyn said " I wanted to do something for the young people on the estate, not just the adults. I have really enjoyed organising and running the cooking sessions".
